I am really not a fish guy ,, its the corals I like,,, when the day comes that my tank is stocked with all the corals I can fit in it,,, I am almost at that point now,,, then is when I was planning on spending some of my tank budget on some of the nicer fish,,, mostly reef safe Wrasses,,, So,,, my question,,, with what is going on in Hawaii ,,, should I be re thinking my plans,,, are there some nice reef safe wrasses that I won't be able to get down the road,,, or can most of these wrasses be bought from other sources,,, other sources ,, meaning other countries,,,

It depends which wrasses you're interested in.

There are a few, I believe, that are endemic to Hawai'i, (Halichoeres ornatissimus, the Christmas wrasse, comes to mind) but a great many more that are coming from the Indo-Pacific region, Australia, Africa - even Madagascar. Your best path is probably to research individual species that you like, and find out where each is coming from.

This injunction in Hawaii is only stopping new collection permits, so there will still be Hawaiian imports for almost a year. This injunction is also temporary until data can be presented to the courts.

Even if fish aren't collected out of Hawaii anymore, it willstop some species coming in, but there are desireable, high end species from other locales.

Wrasse species affected include the aforementioned H. Ornatissmus, as well as flame wrasse, C. jordani, Psych head/red tail anampses, A. chrysocephalus, and the potter's wrasse M. geoffreyi.
