What is the best treatment method for ich with these fish

I’ve heard anecdotally that chelated copper can be used on them if measured precisely (using a Hanna copper checker). I have not tried it, personally. I also do not have experience with CP. I plan to treat my puffers in copper— something I’ve done in the past but in truth I did lose a few. With velvet everywhere these days I don’t know what other option I have if they can’t handle CP. TTM doesn’t treat velvet.

If it were me, I’d acclimate the fish to 1PPM and match the salinity to the bag (ask the distributor beforehand what salinity they ship the fish in), and then raise it over a few days to 1.75 PPM and treat for 14 days, then transfer to a new completely sterile QT with NOTHING shared from the original quarantine and at least ten feet away. Then I’d observe and probably treat with General Cure.

This is the process we follow right now:

Have had success with Copper Power with a Blue Spot Puffer. Slowly raising the copper over 7 days with small doses spread out AM & PM. A Hanna Checker was used to keep an eye on the therapeutic level of 1.75 ppm over 30 days in the QT. Also made sure to feed a large variety of frozen foods in a fish "smoothie" consisting of one frozen cube of each: fish eggs, mysis, brine, seaweed, reef mix, cyclops, etc. with a few drops of Selcon. Also pristine water conditions with regular copper pre dosed water changes of 25% weekly or as needed. "Puff daddy" is happy and healthy in my DT today. Of course your mileage may vary.
