Yes but that doesn't mean there won't be any fighting. You just never know for sure as each fish can behave differently.
ok so I guess it is get one and see

it depends on several factors;
Tank size
Size difference (between specimens)
Availability (factor in time periods between adding one and obtaining the other)
Feeding (a lot or small amounts several times a day)
Territory (A complex rock system or just 1 cave)

And so on…
However in general, the answer is yes if these factors are all met or done correctly.

Also, are you sure the yellow tang is a true Hawaiian Yellow?

nice tank so you have three tangs how big is your tank?
4 tangs in 180g
The Sailfin added last, same size as the yellow, certainly moved the yellow down in rank for a day, but then they settled back in.
Together 3 years now.

It should be okay but I would use an acclimation box or some way to separate the two tangs at first to make sure it won’t end in death. The sailfin being established already could be risky but at the same time your tank size is on your side.

ok going next week to purchase if not gone by then, the price the shop wants is $245.00. I guess that is reasonable?

Yup, that price is reasonable.

I put mine in just after dark.

I watched for an hour both flashing each other every few minutes but no contact.

I the morning when lights on there was still some flashing, but each few hours got less and less.

Good luck!
