I know hawkfish love meaty foods. If I were to get a couple of large shrimp (2.5 inches), give them some time to get established, then get a juvenile dwarf hawkfish, do you think the shrimp would be alright? Or will they be the victims of a mini jaws ?

hi,i think if pair of skunk cleaners ,should be ok...:)

2-2.5" is the length of just his body. The shrimp is actually much bigger than my flame hawkfish.
I added shrimp, not fully grown shrimp, to a tank with a hawkfish, probably my mistake.

My long nose hawkish has no issues with my cleaner shrimp, but devoured the peppermint shrimp I added to the tank. The cleaner is fully grown and the fire was about half the size.

My hawk fish and cleaners get along fine in my 32 gallon tank. I’ve heard they sometimes might not but at least my experience is it’s okay.

Depends on the hawkfish. Banded hawks are murder biscuits. My brothers annihilated all his cuc. Dad had a flame hawk and several peppermint and skunk shrimp and it never bothered them. I would suggest not getting a banded hawk if you want any inverts at all
