I’ve had my longnose hawkfish (Tony) for over a year, and a couple months ago I noticed his mouth doesn’t completely close. He also seems to breath heavily. I did a freshwater dip to check for flukes, no flukes. I then treated with kanaplex and furan2 for 10 days, thinking it might be a gill infection, made no difference. He doesn’t have any ich spots, but I suppose ich could just be in his gills. He acts normal and eating, just has a little more trouble catching the food.

Is there anything else I should consider? Is it maybe an injury? He doesn’t seem to be bothered by it much, but I want him to be healthy.

Hi,

poor guy. Good side is if he has been like that for a while he is eating. he looks nice a plump. I would lean towards injury or infection like you mentioned. You treated for infection. Best I could think is a permanent injury.
