Hola schmola

55G tank about a month old, parameters; pH 8.1 Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 5 Salinity 1.024 Temp 84F

Hooray! I've been keeping the lights off as to not encourage algae growth but there is a bit of what I'd call "a dusting" on the heater. That's kind of it, kind of worried my live rock isn't growing anything but parameters are good, I'm hoping I can add a royal gramma. What say you experts of the saltwater aquatics?

Thanks!

I might try a couple of inverts first prior to a fish. Congratulations on the cycle!

Definitely add a cuc to take care of the "dusting" I'm pretty sure it's algae your describing notice any on your rocks ? And you should be able to add a fish now how long has the tank been cycling for ? And you might want to drop your temp 5-6 degrees I've read that disease is more likely to develop and spread in warmer water and that fish don't do as well in the warm water

Heeey gemini lol

Not a lot of algae at all, like literally just a very small bit on the heater. Juuuuust enough to let you know there has actually been some stuff going on there within the last month. That's really interesting info, but I thought the temp should be kept about 80?

If you read through the fish at live aquaria.com youll see that most fish prefer temps around 78 degrees. 84 is a bit much.
