HD's 144 1/2 Moon

With my tank cycled and to the point I can start adding so CUC, is it to early to add some cheato and pods or should I let it mature a little longer? I would like to get a well established population going before I start adding fish. This is my fist tank with a sump so my plan is 50% of the pods in the sump and 50% in the DT. What are your thoughts?

Definitely pods. Let them get plentiful. My Chaeto survived while maturing, but did not really grow until I had a heavier bioload.

EDIT: in a 45 my gallon tank that is.

Sounds great! I figured it would be ok, just wanted a second! Thanks for the feedback!

Really looking good, and congratulations on that Green Banner:D

Thank you!

Best place to buy pods online? Recommendations please. And what type would be best to stock? Running copepods in the 32 but there will be more fish and larger fish in this one.....;Meh someday.

FWIW, I used AlgaeBarn for Copepods. Did one order of 5280 mixed pods before I had the tank and was maturing rock. Then I added Apocyclops recently, medium sized, again, for a smaller tank. In the middle I added some FAT Amphipods from IPSF.com for diversity. They were huge, by comparison.

+1 in Algae Barn :)

Well, Monday I'll be the proud papa to 10560 pods! Addopted of course! Thanks for the tip on where to order. Should be more than enough to seed mine and add more to the 32. I love it when a plan comes together! ;Happy

No, should I be? Asking because I really don't know if I should be. The 32 has been set up since deceDece and has algea and fish poop, the 144 has a nice diatom explosion. Do they need phyto as well?

Well, I left the house early this morning on a mission to find my first fish or two. I decided to do the usual and start with clowns but I guess I'm to picky. As luck would have it I came home empty handed. 3 fish stores in town and the selection at all 3 stores were weak. One said its our slow period, we will start ordering more when business starts picking back up. Really? Wanting something like "A" rated gladiators or pacassos or anything else with crisp lines and color.

I got home and looked at Divers den and live aquaria, no luck. Can you recommend another online that might carry some? Reputable...

Oh well I'm in no hurry, when i find the right ones i will snag them up. OK! I LIED!! I WANT A FISH!!! ;Rage ;Woot:(

I could relocate the wife's when she's not looking. :D

Enjoy all of those alerts ;)

I love that tank style. Very clean look to it. I can’t wait to see this progress into a reef.
I will definitely be following from here!

Ok my friends, this one has me stumped. In my wife's tank I keep getting these little orange spots down low in the tank. I have no clue what it is. I have noticed the Coraline started taking off and doing great on the back of her tank..Finally! Is the orange stuff some some kind of Coraline or something else that I should worry about. Yes I know the glass down low needs cleaned...working on that.

I’m pretty sure those are flatworms like red planaria.

I don’t think you or her are hosed necessarily. I would try flatworm exit. I think they are mainly a pest due to smothering everything while they try and get light.

Thanks! I believe your right they look exactly like the pics on the web. Good eye sir, thanks I'll start looking for flatworm exit, vacuum and do another water change.

Sounds like I have my work cut out for me. Crazy we dip every coral, qt the fish and havent added any new items to the tank since February other than the 3 fish we added a month ago. Wonder if this is what took out her frogspawns and torch.

Flat worms are tough. They can cling pretty well. The demise of the euphyllia could have been due to them. I have killed a lot of euphyllia without their help though ;Facepalm

Funny! I probably killed mine but I was hoping for a better excuse!
