So i bought 2 ocellaris Clown Fish put them thru QT and then they were in the tank for about a month until last night one chose to jump out and meet his fate (Death). Well i guess the second one thought it would be a good idea as well and jumped out the next day. BUT! i found this guy in time he was moving just a little on the floor. I put him back in the tank and he sunk directly to the bottom breathing very slowly. Then he began to breath heavily and then was upright and swimming erratically around the tank. As time goes by the stable his swimming becomes. Wonder if he will make it. And also wonder why they both decided to jump 1 after the other.

With that said is there any place to get a clear plastic top for a 120 gallon dual overflow tank? I don't want something that will hinder my lighting.

You didn't name them Romeo and Juliette did you?

Sorry you lost one of them, hopefully the other one will survive and decide the "other side" (of the glass:rolleyes:) isn't worth it! :D:eek::D

i'm hoping fish are smart and he makes that choice to remain in the tank this time. He seems to have fully recovered. he was literally out of the water for 2 minutes and who knows how long before i found him.

I've got a flasher wrasse that escaped the very same fate since I happened to hear him hit the ground. Lucky for him a dust bunny broke his fall. He got washed off in some tank water before getting returned home. He hasn't "gone over the wall" since!

Would you be able to make a top out of egg crate? That way it would block the fish but not the light. Not sure if you have a rimless aquarium but if your aquarium does have a rim this might be an option for you.

I have a screen over the top of my 68 gallon rimless, and you can't really tell it's there. I would invest in some sort of lid. I got the DIY kit from bulk reef supply and it was pretty easy to put together. My clowns are in my Biocube are mean little jerks and try to bite me every time I have to do something in the tank. One jump right of the tank and onto the carpet one time trying to get to me. Put him back in the tank and he was no worse for the wear.

Clownfish are known jumpers and a lot of them sleep at top of aquariums I also lost 2 clowns on back to back nights and I only have a 1 inch gap in the back and I lost my 9 year old hawkfish to jumping a few weeks ago. the only fish I've had die in the past 5 years is carpet surfing.
