Head preasure

So I feel I know the answer to this but, does the head preasure/distance include only the vertical lift or does it mean the horizontal distance as well.

Only the vertical but i would add a bit if I had a very long horizontal run like 15 or more feet

Calculators that I've seen include vertical height, horizontal friction loss (significantly less) and elbows/turns. (Apparently, there's not much appreciable difference between one 90 and two 45 degree elbows. Wonder about "sweep" elbows...)
