This is more a general question about behavioral symptoms and not an immediate treatment question. I’ve been reading back through my notes on the limited disease experiences I’ve had and reflecting back on some of the threads I’ve read here. It is truly great having more experienced people weighing as folks do here!

One question is are there certain behavior symptoms that when presented are suggestive more strongly to a certain disease or narrows the possibilities? For example it seems swimming into a powerhead might be one? I’m specifically wondering about head shaking. Has anyone experienced that with ich?

Is there a good printed reference book for a compendium that includes a good summary of behavioral symptoms? I realize symptoms have to be taken in totality and that may just narrow what is being dealt with. But wouldn’t it be helpful if there are certain ones that are uncommonly or rarely seen with certain ailments? I could be totally off point here too but am interested in hearing people’s thoughts.

Often associated with a fish shaking or miserable from irritants from flukes. If true, you’ll see elevated breathing, loss of appetite, sudden darting as examples

Head shaking and coughing are often a sign of flukes. They can also be caused by excess particulates in the water that irritate the fish (they make it feel like they are getting attacked by parasites).
