Look closely around his eye and head. Tiny white specks. Nothing on my flame hawk. What is it ?

How long has it been there? Could be a parasite (like ich) or just some sand stuck to his slime coat.

A couple of days now. Very tiny white specks on his head and by his eye. Otherwise acting normal.

Doesn't ich or velvet cover their whole body?

In advanced stages perhaps.

I do notice with wrasse that they tend to start getting spots on their pectoral and other fins before elsewhere-- doesn't rule out ich or velvet, the fact they've been there a few days makes me wonder if it's ich, anyway.

Anywhere from 3-7 days before the white spots would disappear.
