I have attached a picture in hopes of getting some opinions of what seems to be going on with my Polyps.. They were all opening up and staying that way up until about a month ago.. Now they ALL don't open fully. I used to see all their tentacles but now I only see about half of them opening up to that point? They look great but I am NEW to the coral world and I don't want to buy any more until I am certain these guys are OK?? They have been like this for a couple months but just cant get them ALL to open at once.Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.. Please excuse the accidental rotation.

You could try dipping them to see if any parasite comes off.Or maybe they are not happy with their location in the tank.

Definitely post at least your main 3 params. Also lighting would be helpful. Those palys should be able to thrive in mud. so you definitely have something going on. Could be some sort of parasite I guess, but I would think with those perhaps a nibbling fish might be more likely. A dwarf angel perhaps...

I do have some ammonia I believe Its at .5?? However I have used some ammonia lok to arrest any issues.. Nitrates and Nitrites are both 0. I have heard of people dipping them in some kind of substance in order to rid them of parasites but I dont know what this substance is.I have been told as long as I use the ammonia lok it should keep things in check until I get rid of it completely. Could the ammonia be causing this even though I have treated for it? All fish and shrimp and crabs, even snails look great and have had no loss in the tank..

Thats going to be the issue. I'm no chemist, but from much reading I do on the forums here is how this works... You have ammonia, use ammo-lok or amquil or whatever... You will still have the ammonia. What actually happens is this product lowers your ph which makes the ammonia less toxic but it is still there even though it may not even show up on test kits. It is the same thing that happens in a bag when you ship a fish. Ammonia does build in that bag, but the ph drops so it lessens the toxicity in the bag. Then someone receives the fish, and drip acclimates it which brings up the ph and makes the water toxic. Lol so don't do that.

As far as those polyps go, they will probably ride it out but it would be best to move them to an established system for a while if you know anyone.

And look into Bayer (advanced insecticide, sold at home depot). It is the only dip you'll need. Works great on a wide variety of corals.
