Heat and Oxygen Concerns While Transporting Fish

How long are fish and coral OK in a bag with air instead of O2? In my specific case the largest fish are a pair of adult Banggai Cardinals.

Should I be concerned about fish and coral getting too cold in styrofoam coolers(the kind you get from ordering livestock online) over a 2-3 hour drive? 60-70 degree F weather.

Average Temperature: 135 degrees Fahrenheit

Seems a bit much, are there other heat packs they don't get as hot?

Not sure about the O2 but I know if your worried about the heat get some and warmers and tape them to the lid. It will keep the fish nice and warm. Make sure the hand warmers aren’t touching the water directly but just above the bags.

I see you edited your post. Another suggestion with those heat pads is that they last for 8 or 12 hrs, what ever it is I can’t remember. Usually they are super hot at first then they slowly produce less heat so maybe open it 6hrs before you leave and so it’s not super hot but good enough to keep the fish warm

I'm thinking, I know they can do at least 24 hours with oxygen. Oxygen makes up about 21% of air. So 21% of 24 is 5.04 hours. Seems like they should be OK with just air I guess?

So I would suggest moving them in ice cream buckets instead of bags for that long of a trip. Also heat wise as long as they're in the cab I wouldn't worry.
