This morning I woke up to my tank being ~62F because the heater stopped working, I put a new one in but do I need to be worried about my fish/corals since they got so cold?

Unfortunately all you can do is watch them to see if they rebound. They should be ok at that temp as long as it wasn't for a long period of time. Now would be a good time to purchase a second heater and run them together :-)

I agree. It's a sit and wait situation. I've heard that a cool tank is not as stressful or deadly as a tank with no circulation so everything might be alright. A backup heater and a controller is cheap insurance. I built a DIY heater controller that I trust more than my my JBJ. lol

Last Friday we had a power failure, and the temp in the tank was 50 degrees when the power came back. Power was off for almost 24 hours. I think your fish would be fine at the current temp.

Thanks for all the great info and it looks like everyone is going to pull through, oddly enough my one acan seems to have changed from having yellow color on the inside of the heads to having a green color. Also stunreefer, thanks for the link, its was really informative!

I'm glad they are doing well and hope you don't lose anything. I really believe dual heaters on a controller is worth every penny.
