Heater fully submersable?

wondering if heater failures are due to leakage or materials? Glass plastic connection (jager) or wire/ cable seal.
 
Depends on the heater, most are manufactured to be fully submersible. I think the main cause of failure is the constant heating and cooling off. Granted they're made to do that, but heating things up and cooling them off many times a day over many days eventually takes its toll on any material. So I would say materials :)
