So i got this tank all set up etc and its at a stably 74-76F and im wondering what brand it is or how do i figure out the controls for hotter & colder, basically it has a red nob at the top of it that you can move to point to either + or - and i have it just under the + symbol, but there is no degrees symbols or numbers letting me know what exactly the temp is, other than my thermometer..

ive added a few pics here of it, anyone know the brand? the orange light flickers inside of it and thats basically it, i would like to figure out the settings if i can or brand so i can google it and find instructions

every bit of advice helps!

thank you!

Most glass heaters have that little orange light. That tells you when it is heating. I don't know what brand that is but they all work the same. The temperatures probably wore off of the red knob. They are notoriously inaccurate so you are much better off moving it in tiny increments and checking your thermometer after a few hours.

That said, how old is that heater? Heaters are known to go bad without warning and nuke a tank. If it is a few years old it would be worth it to buy a knew one.

i turned the nob up yeah so ill check in a a few hrs, right now its at 72F i need a 76f or higher, the guy i bought the tank off last week said everything was a year old.. so i may invest in a new heater soon, if so, how do i get the tank heated with the new heater? while removing the old one? do i install the new one as well as the old on staying on, until temp is reached then remove the old one?

The water takes a while to change temp. You don't need to do anything special. Set the new heater for the temp you want and put it in. Just take the old one out and watch the temp for a few hours since you will need to recalibrate to the new one.
