Hey everyone. I've had 2 same issues with 2 different brands (Hydor and Fluval M series.

I've got 2 200w fluval M on our 75 Reef. Heater controller is set to 78, but the tank stops heating at around 74. I've calibrated it and still nothing. Our house stays around 70. I have both turned all the way up right now, not plugged into the controller. Looks like they're topping out at 78.1. They come off and on a lot more than I'm used to seeing on my other tanks.

Same thing happened with my 400w Hydor. They ended up replacing it for me.

Any ideas of what to do? Never had a heater issue before. Thanks!

I am currently using Cobalt heaters, with no issues. BRS tested several heaters and found Cobalt to be the most accurate. It’s the only heater they recommend without a controller. In the end you just can’t trust any of them.

Maybe you should buy yourself a nice inkbird heater controller they work good they have two temperature probes and 2 outlets for heaters I like the one I picked up for my 120 also those titanium heaters works well and are fairly cheap its really all that brs carries for heaters I think this is a common problem with all heaters

I've got the inkbirds on all 3 tanks. My other 2 work perfectly. Marineland heater, and an Eheim jaeger
