I would have thought that heaters would not be able to be held by the body of the heating element but I see its common practice. Can they be mounted on acrylic or silicone hooks? What can you not mount them on and what should you avoid, again I was surprised to see manufactures selling what looks like plastic to hold the actual piece that gets hot so it kinda defies what I thought would have been common sense. If you just want to suggest a good safe easy way with some diy to mount/hold a heater in please please suggest it!

Many manufactures sell their heaters with its own holder .
You can also buy a replacement holder .
The way I think of it - I have rubber oven mitts that don’t melt, and I have plastic spatulas that do .
Must be made out of a plastic that has a higher melting point

Zen Reef makes a heavy duty heater holder. I have 2 I use in my display, I’d look into getting one of those as opposed to making something yourself.
