Heater okay?

Not planning on using this for my tank, just to heat up mixed saltwater. Heater has a little residue on the metal, not sure if it is like rust or something else. Not salt, i tried to wipe it off with water and there was no change. maybe salt corrosion? do yall think its safe to use for salt water mixing? i dont want to take any chances of chemicals or metal leaking.

looks like it might be calcium build up if it bothers you try soaking it in vinegar

Try a distilled white vinegar bath could be calcium deposit from precipitation
