Heater placement in reservoir

Trying to figure out the best place for a heater in my Brute trash can I use for mixing salt water. I've thought about suspending it from the lid but would prefer to mount it somewhere. I am using a 250w Ehiem heater that has suction cups to keep it in place.

I was considering suctioning it to the bottom of the barrel but Im not too sure how safe that would be. The heater/pump is not going to be on 24/7. Only the day of making saltwater. Otherwise they will be off and cleaned.

I just drop it in the trash can.

Just chuck it in. It is not nearly hot enough to hurt the plastic, mine has been that way for at least five+ years

Yeah, it's hard to melt the plastic when realistically the heater shouldn't be able to heat to a temperate any higher than its highest setting.
