Heater placement?

I have two heaters, both in the sump. One is in the skimmer section, the other is in the return section. The temperature probe is in the return section. Not a problem....been that way for over ten years.

Yep. Got my heater in the sump and the temp probe in the DT. Works for me. ;)

@Big G , the one thing that concerns me about having heaters and probes located in different tanks is that the return pump fails and now, in your case, your sump cooks while the DT temperature drops. (Oops, I just realized if you're heaters are using their temperature setting, which are close to you desired temperature, it wouldn't cook!)

Having a DC return pump, and before I had it on a routine cleaning schedule, it stopped twice on me because it was gunked up. So I would have had two cooking of my sump. As it is, the DT temperature dropped, and the sump was nice a cozy, at proper temperature. The DT temperature drop was only a couple degrees, so no harm done.

Doesn't really matter. If using a controller, To avoid complications should return pump fail both probe and heaters. Should be in same place
