So I was wondering is my heater in the best possible place? Right now I have it where my skimmer is. But I was wondering would the return area be better placement? I have a RedSea Reefer 65gl with the stock sump. So those are the only two places I could place it.

Thanks for all you help.

I have a nuvo 40 AIO. And thought about putting mine in the pump area as well. Hoping I can fit 2 for redundancy. To clarify the pump area receive the over flow of water from baffles and sends it down, up and out.

Are you experiencing large temp fluctuations??

No, just didn’t know if the water sat there long enough to get heated.

Most definately, technically both chambers receive the same amount of flow so wherever you put them the water hangs around roughly the same amount of time. Obviously being in the skimmer chamber the water hangs around a little bit longer but the difference is negligible. Ideally you don't want water "hanging around" your heater anyway, especially with a heater mounted in the sump. When it does your heater won't function as well and your tank won't reach the temp that you would like it to be at.
