Hello, as I said in my intro I do freshwater high tech planted with warm water fish (80 degrees optimal).
my jbj 1000 watt literally cooked Monday night- I’m the sump- not exposed. Tank is 225, sump 45 gal.
Preference for heaters? Not sure want to go back to the jbj- even though I still have controller.
Not opposed to those that work with apex, most all of my aquarium is automated, but haven’t quite made the leap to apex controllers

I use a couple of the Hager heaters hooked up to my apex have been using them for years. Set at a good price and keeps my temp very stable with apex.

I prefer radiant heating systems on larger tanks but jagers are good electric heaters.

Always come back to Ehiem - as reliable as any and cheap. All of them suck and need a second controller. All of them will fail eventually.

I ordered the BRS 1200 watt- maybe a little bit of overkill tank size wise, however, hopefully they won't burn out as fast by not pushing them to max capacity.

I did pick up to 400w glass aquatop "premiums" with the element cover until the others arrive, so far they are doing above average at keeping my temp stable. My thoughts are I'll have these as backups when I end up in this situation in the future.
Thanks all!

I like the Cobalt Neothoerms. Pricey but very accurate and small.

Unfortunately Cobalt changed their warranty a bit lately. Now you have to send them the defective heater in order for it to qualify under possible warranty replacement, no matter what. I used to just video demonstrating the problem and they would cover it under warranty.

I just had one go bad and it was obvious it was bad and I demonstrated it was bad to them, but I still have to mail it in.
