Hello

I am getting back in the hobby after 15 years but never owned a big tank. I have been buying little by little. My tank was going to be 100 + 30 and bought two Jager 150. But I changed my mind and got 130 glass 5/8 rimless + 48 sump. I live in Miami, Fl. House temp is 78 when not home and 73 at night to sleep. I am thinking of keeping tank 79-80max. Will this be enough? Or need bigger. I can't do the 250 jager won't fit in sump but I can do Finnex TH 500. Will this be an over kill?

Thank you for your help

You're going to be pushing it was just 2 150w Jager's. Each heater is rated up to 79 gallons. My biggest concern for you would be the tank getting too hot. You may want to consider a chiller that has the ability to heat as well. Most of the Teco chillers are dual heater/chiller.

I believe you're going to be just fine. You need to look at total Watts, and 300 W will handle 159-264 gallons.

My one suggestion is to consider a temperature controller......not necessarily an expensive total tank controller, such as an Apex. A stand-alone would work just as well.....such as a Ranco or Inkbird.

Mjlash22 - thanks, I hope I won't need the chiller but will see when I set it up. I'll run it for a while like it had corals. My light are led too. Ac vent is right on top too.

Redfishbluefish, thanks. Yes I have an apex.
