Serious question. Anyone buy a aqueon heater recently and it's not getting the tank to temp. 20gal qt. Aqueon 100w for 40gal. It's set at 84° yet my tank wont go any higher then 74.3°. I have used 3 different temperature gauges. 1 tds/temp, 1 mercury gauge, and 1 sticky tank glass temp reader. This is my sec in 4 days. 1st heater was the aqueon 50w it got the tank to 68°. Should I call the company

I only have 1 aqueon and it's placed in my QT. It seems to hold temp fine for us.

I keep my house 64-68F and my tanks at 78F. My 40g (31g of water) needs 150W. A 125W topped out at 77F. A 50W heater in my 15g (12g of water) topped out at 74F, I use 100W in it.

100W sounds skinny. I use an Aquael Gold 300W in my 65g tank and wouldn’t be comfortable with anything smaller for my main heater. As said of course the minimum ambient temperature it needs to deal with is important when sizing heaters.

Is the heater on all the time or is it turning on and off? Knowing that bit of information would help determine if it’s just inadequate wattage or a problem with the thermostat.
