Is this a bad idea to have rock holding down the heater?

Also are these heaters good for reef tanks?

Personally, I wouldn't put a rock on top of a glass heater.
As far as the "best" heaters out there, I really don't know. I have a 600w BRS titanium heater connected to my Inkbird and don't have any complaints.

I have done it, and also busted heaters doing it lol. Luckily it was off lol.

I do not recommend it with glass heaters, as you can bust one if that rock is bumped.

As for the hyggers, not sure never used them.

I’ve been using Aqueon Pre-set Heaters, with an Inkbird Control as a back-up. During a recent power outage, Inkbird got Zapped. The other day I was doing a water change and smelled something burning. At first I thought it was my LED Strip, as I didn’t have the fins facing up. Then found out after awhile the heater was out of the water. Yanked it out and put it outside. Amazing thing is it still works and maintains temperature. I switched to another heater though.

Thanks everyone! I may get a photo of the actual one I have at home just to see your opinions. But it looks just like the one I posted.

Just got home. The heater I have which was given to me in a few boxes of free stuff, is a "won pro heat 250w ic heater". I will use this instead of the glass one that's held down with a rock.
