Any issues with putting it in my overflow, I added some things to my sump and have no room for it in there which is where I had it and really don’t want it in the main tank.

Lots of different types of overflows so without seeing it's hard to say for sure, but as long as it is fully submerged at all times even if the return pump stops it should be fine. I also would make sure it's not touching any sides of the overflow as it could melt it. How are you controlling it? Built in thermostat? or some other way like an apex?

Just make sure you turn it off when you turn the return pump off depending on if they will be exposed to air when the water level lowers in the overflow

I am no expert on heaters but I wouldn’t think it would. Only thing to worry about is if it will melt something.

@Lavey29
I wouldn’t t think so either and I had it in my sump didn’t melt anything in there and things were tight I’m pretty sure it was touching things I think the water keeps it cool to a degree

If I turn my return off the heater will go off to it’s plugged in to the same outlet strip. But yeah for sure doing that
