In everyone's experience what do you think are the best heaters. Do you use glass, titanium etc.?

Eheim Jagers. Supposedly the glass on these heaters is twice as thick as others. The one drawback with Jagers is that they are longer than all other heaters.

+1. I am running jagers on my reef. I really like them. I had the Finnex heaters and my heater failed within 4 months and the heater was not even used that much since it was summer.

I am thinking about going with these ViaAqua Titanium Aquarium Heater . Anyone have these?

I have heard Eheim Jagers are the way to go. I currently have fluval E series 100w, Eheim Jager 50w, and viaaqua quartz 50w. All of them have worked well for me. Have had the fluval over a year. The other two I have only had for a few months.

Been using jager for about year and a half. Had a fluval before that....bottom blew out

Aqueon pro heater. Solid build. Supposedly shatterproof. Glass heaters make me nervous. Even if it's an eheim.

I'll be the decenter, Eheim are inconsistent and they're calibration dial is useless .............. Sad is I listened to recommendations like above and bought 3 - 300 watt. I'm always having to fiddle with them. My Marineland 200 watt out perform my Jager's in temperature control.

Hydor glass heaters are junk. I've broke several and even had em burst in the tank. Titanium is the way to go but it's more expensive. Fer the budget reefer Eheim Jaeger is the way to go....but i do have to agree with Big Dog, the temp dial is funky....but once dialed in it holds temp fine.

I used to run several brands over the years and never thought about it. Then a couple years ago I noticed when over the years I tossed the heaters that broke and kept the ones that kept working and was left with only Jagers! So now I am a jager fan. They are big though, and the calibration dial is a bit funny. I run a 300w with my apex now and am happy. The tank drifts about 1 degree which is fine. Probably should have gotten 2 smaller heaters as the big 300w turns on and off quite often on the 120 open top.

Absolutely love my jager tru temp... It is long and recommended to be installed vertically so sump use is out of the question but I have an all glass dual mega flow 120 gallon so it hides in one of the overflow boxes nicely... Being that the element is so large a lower wattage heater will heat a greater volume of water... My 300W is rated for up to 264 gallons and keeps my 120 display and 40 sump at 77 degrees with hardly any fluctuation and not on continuously.. Plus at $50.00 you can't beat it

I use a titanium heater. I even oversized to run at.shorter periods. I run off an apex controller. Very easy to set up keeps temp right on. But honestly go for brand names. Usually a little better quality.

I currently have the hydor 300 watt inline heater and its doing great no issues at all and doesn't take up space in the tank or sump

I've used jager heaters for years (fw and sw). I think my 200 watt is getting close to 8 years old or so. Still works great. I've used other brands and had them go kaput on me... (While out of town resulting in coming home to boiled fish)

For my new set up (( 210 )), I went with 2 Jagers (( 150 & 250 watts )), and have been pretty pleased with them. They are controlled by the APEX and have no issues keeping the temps within 5* (( my choice )). They appear to only be on half the day, if that.

But, I agree that they are really long, part of the reason I have only 1 250, and supplement it with a 150.
