OK I need to make a heater choice. I bought 2 Eheim 250W heaters but had to send them back because they are to long for my trigger systems 36" Ruby sump. I have a 120 gallon dual overflow tank. The heaters will be placed in sump. Can anyone recommend another brand of heater with smaller footprint? Also if buying two heaters, 1 as a backup what size watts should each be?

How about an in-line heater like the Hydor 200 or 300? Perhaps an in-line system like Lifeguard makes that looks like a canister but holds many standard heaters?

I only use titanium heaters after several issues with others.

Finnex is the only heater I am running now. Nothing else lasts. I've been trying out the finnex since winter time started and so far so good no issues at all. Running 3 of them on 3 different reefs. It gets cold in the Midwest lol.

Eheims are my go-to heater, but they are long. I think they add the length because of the extra thickness of the glass. My second choice would be Sera. They are shorter than the Eheims. Assuming your tank/sump are in a heated portion of the house, two 250's should do it.
