Heaters

Because of space constraints in my sump, I use a Finnex titanium heating element controlled by my Apex. So far, so good.

What don’t you like about your Aqueon? By all accounts, the Aqueon Pro heaters are supposed to be one of the better quality heaters out there. I bought a couple for my tank but they turned out to be a bit too long to fit comfortably with all the other gear in my sump.

Aqueon new ones are crap. My 75g with 20 long sump it stayed at 80° regardless of where i had the set at. Now its running my tank at 83°. I keep having to **** it off wait for the water to cool then plug back in. I had 2 smaller ones for my qt. Both heaters would not go above 65°. Im at my wits end with the brand. I just learned they went from america to china made. I think cheaper products are now in the heaters causing so many issues.

I have 4 150w aqueon pros. 2 in a 90g @76 degrees, one in a 29g at 77 degrees and one for heating new water. So far so good, they are a degree or 2 off according to the dial and my thermometers but I adjust accordingly.

I had my pro set at 74° still my tank was at 83° yesterday. I could the steam leaving my screen top. I dont have apex or a controller so i didnt know till i realized the like fogginess

Hmm, maybe I have different kinds or something. I had an aquatop heater crack and shock me and I see a lot of posts here about cobalt heaters leaking/exploding so I don’t recommend those two brands. Good luck!

Have two finnex on apex. Love them. Solid heaters. Sealed. No bells and whistles. Just plain awesome.

Are your heaters newer or older??

What if you turn the dial all the way down? The temp doesn’t change at all? I will also note the directions said to float them in the water to be heated for 30 mins and let them run at 24 hours before adjusting the dial. I did that. Yes I read the directions on heaters:rolleyes:...this is my first experience with them

I can put it all the way down it still over heats. I think its stuck on. My red light never comes on at all.

I've got a pair of cobalt on both of my tanks running roughly 8 weeks. I had 1 heater pop after 5 weeks. I dont have a replacement yet but Cobalt has been very responsive and offered a free cheaper replacement until they're back in stock. Is it concerning 1 popped yes, but so far communication is great.
