So i have a 90 g tank right now with a 200w heater thats been working fine for 2 years now. Looking to get a new one just to be safe but my predicament is that im in the process of slowly buy stuff for a 220g setup and was gonna do 2 600w heater for that tank, if i was to put one or both in the 90 for now is that too much over kill?

Do you have a controller to monitor the temp and shut off at a certain point? My only concern would be if one of them had a defect and stayed on in the 90g... that would fry everything quickly.

That's pretty much a concern for any heater though. I agree.....a controller is a great tool. I have one on both of my tanks.
