I currently run this heater in my 120 display and it’s been great. I want to add another for safety if one fails and to use in my qt (20 g) when needed. What size should I add?

Redundant heating is a really good idea. And your controller is perfect to do that. I just don't think I would want a heater big enough to be effective in the 120 for use in the 20 QT. You can absolutely get a smaller heater for the 120, but it needs to be big enough to keep the tank from cooling too rapidly if the 1st one fails. I would get a seprate cheap heater for the QT if it won't be running all of the time. Just my .02.

I was thinking it might be too big. The cheap one it came with I cannot get to stay stable. It will be at 81, I turn down slightly and then it’s at 78. Bit are decent numbers but I think it drops at night too.
