What heater is everyone using , I have heard not to use my apex to control my heater ?
Correct. My heaters are not on my Apex.
I use an Inkbird controller for my heaters on both of my tanks.
I recently had my 600w BRS Titanium heater die after less than a year of use. BRS refunded my money (They have a 3 year warranty).
I'm now using two 300w Eheim heaters instead. They're cheaper and add redundancy in case one of them fails. I suggest going with cheaper heaters and using 2 instead of 1.

Eheims that are run by a ranco as the primary means to control them. Heaters are replaced annually with some old ones being regulated as replacement mixing barrel heaters.

I'm just using 2 Eheims. Nothing fancy, but they have been going strong for 2 years now. Controlled via inkbird.

I was going to ask about the finnex because that's what I have now the two heater idea seems to be a good one incase one fails. Thanks everyone for there input.

Honestly...after letting my old finnex heating elements and controllers sit for a.cpl yrs they didn't work when I went to fire em back up. Why I went with the ehiem Jaeger element.

I always have 3 heaters on hand. 2 in the tank and one for heating the water for changes/back up.
