Hey guys, how do you heat your large tanks? I have a 180 heated with Jagers but they are so incredibly long it's difficult to fit them in my sump properly. Is there a shorter one out there? Or do you just use multiple heaters?

TIA :)

I have a 180 with a 40b sump. I use a single finnex 800w titanium heater controlled by my apex. Its a great heater and isnt very long, my 300w ehiem glass heater is way longer than it haha

Thanks hybridazn... i've seen these and seem people love them and seen a lot of people get shocked by them... kinda scares me TBH. They are definitely intriguing though.

I use the 800w finnex as well. Im really happy with the footprint, even though size really isnt an issue with my sump (150g livestock container) - but I was having a hard time maintaining a tight temperature range with 2 - 300w heaters, so I bought this one. The eheim jagers are GREAT heaters, but if you dont have the room, the finnex are awesome as well. Right now Im running it entirely through my Apex and it maintains a constant 77.8 - 78.4F temperature on a 300 gallon system. The thermometer in the tank reads 78.0 constantly :D

Thanks guys :) Anyone ever been shocked by the Finnex ones?

I have never been shocked by my finnex...I run 800w on my 125...50 sump with the finnex controller only....keeps tank between 76-77 all day

I use 3 200watt jager's in my sump, they fit perfectly lengthwise on one of my baffles in my sump. All three controlled through a heavy duty 3way splitter going to a single outlet on my apex. Keeps temp exactly where I want it on my 220 gal + 110gal sump setup
