So I set the 72 bow back up. First go I had goldfish and didn't use a heater. Now I'm thinking about African cichlids or maybe a fish only saltwater. I filled the tank back up just testing it out running with the penguin 350 filter. I have a 300w visi therm heater.

This heater has been running all day and I haven't seen it shut off once. I have it set on 76 but the tank is reading 68. I put in a MJ 1200 to help circulate the water to see if that would help but no change.

The tank is in my bonus room upstairs. The room thermostat is set at 65 so it's cool up there. Maybe get a 200w to put on opposite side of the 300w?

Are you sure the heater is working? I can heat that much water to 80 degrees in my 40 degree or less garage to 78 easy with a 300w heater

Thanks for the reply. I guess the heater is bad. I was up all night and never once seen it turn off. Temp never got over 68. Just now, I put my hand in the tank and felt the heater and it is cold. It's not warm at all but the light is on.

Guess I'll order a new one.

So I ordered a new heater, a Marineland Precision 300w and it works great. Tank heated up no problem. I went ahead and contacted Marineland about this in case there was some kind of recall. I know there was a issue with the stealth models awhile back.

Marineland repied and is sending me a replacment heater. How cool is that? When my reef capable led light went out, they was sure it was the power supply and sent me a free replacement and it fixed my light. Great service with Marineland. I hate I spent $25 on a new heater but won't hurt to have a backup.
