Ive been heating up my saltwater before a wc. My rodi water is sitting at 62f and my reef is at 78f. Tank has a water volume of roughly 35g. I change 5g a week. Do i need to heat my saltwater or can i get away without doing it? Im just wondering im perfectly fine with heating it to 78.

Your salinity reading when measuring the salt in the newly mixed water is actually temperature dependent. So to get accurate salinity you actually need to heat it while mixing. After you have mixed it you can let it cool if you are storing it. With a tank that size you may get a temperature swing if putting it in cold though. Myself, I would just heat it.

Heat it. 5 gallons is 14 percent and will drop the temperature. Within 1-2 degrees of the tank temp is fine. You don,t want to quickly change the temperature in the tank.
