Heavy breathing

My tank is still relatively new and have been having a lot of problems with the water. I’ve been treating it consistently and it’s getting better but not right yet. But this morning I woke up and all the fish have been breathing heavy for a few hours and my yellow tang is white around the eyes. I tested the water and it’s still not perfect but could it some type of infection??

What’s “not perfect”???

If you have ammonia, you need to treat the tank daily with prime to make the ammonia less toxic. I’d also add a good bottled bacteria daily for a few days.

my ammonia and nitrates are high. I have been adding Prime for about 4 days now but can start adding bacteria as well.

it has only been set up about a month. they’re in a 15 gallon tank now because we had a crack in our large tank and are waiting to get a new one in.

I’ve done two 20% water changes in the past 3 days. Should I do another one??

Yes. I would do the 75% right away. Ammonia burns the gills and kills fish.

Then, you'll need some nitrifying bacteria -- there are a few good brands.

When will your bigger tank arrive? Those two in a 15 gallon will be a real struggle.

okay. I can do the 75% today.
ive been adding bio-spira for the past few days hoping that’ll help.
my new tank should be here Tuesday.

Personally, once I did the 75% today, I'd get ready to do another one the next day and just stay ready to swap most of that water.

still a little heavy breathing, but they seem okay. I’ll just be happy when my tank gets here.
