So I have two prime 16hds with this schedule set up and I’m not sure if I should add more lighting stuff seems to be pretty happy would more light be ideal ? A 3rd 16hd ? Pictures for attention and current schedule currently running the two lights on 40 breeder

2 is fine :)

You might be able to raise the intensity if you'd like (depending on mounting height and par, but if things are doing well then I'd say just keep it as is.

Yeah I would raise the intensity but the fans love to sing they sing loudly lol

Make sure to clean the cover off occasionally. I had one on my refugium overheat once because I forgot to do that lol
I clean them religiously every time I do a water change (once a week)

IMO depends what you mean by 'softie' as leathers tend to want as much juice as you can give, similar to acros. Mushrooms are pretty adaptable and zoas it depends on where they were collected. Most LPS are best at lower levels, some LPS only grow in the shade in the wild.

Can't vouch for any of this but I like the BRS video on AI Primes that test PAR and suggest spacing and light settings. Within the video they specifically cover the 40 breeder with different sections for LPS/softies vs SPS. They recommended 2x AI Primes for softies and suggested specific spacing and height of the Primes in the video.

If you haven't seen it, might be of interest:

BRStv AI Prime 16 HD Testing

*I have a 40 breeder with mis-matched, cheapie LEDs and about upgrade to 2x AI Prime 16 HD LEDs. I plan to start with some scaled down (lower intensity) version of the BRS recommendations and see what happens.

EDIT -- thought this was a new thread but just noticed it's a couple weeks old so maybe not of interest anymore,,, sorry

How do you clean them? Canned air? I asking because I thought aerosols are bad, but I can’t think of another way.

I just use wet micro-fiber cloth and works fine for me. (Not AI Primes but LEDs with clear/flat cover beneath the actual LEDs so I assume it would be the same).

Occasionally, I use pre-packaged, small, "lens wipes" that we have for eye glasses and phone screens and such and they seem to work well. They're wet (but not dripping) with "something" alcohol-ish that helps them clean -- I just don't throw them into the tank afterwards.

EDIT -- I assume we're talking about the light-side face,,, but maybe I misunderstood

I have 32s and was interested in advice about the fans. But, it’s good to know those lens wipes work, too. I was worried they may cloud/burn the lenses if used while the lights are on.

Worth thinking about but I'm not that careful. The ones we have don't seem to leave any residue but worth noting that I'm probably running lower intensity lighting than many with "nice" LEDs, especially with hard corals.
