does anyone know where to get, or have an actual pair of helfrichi firefish. i have been looking everywhere for a true pair and contacted many online retailers, they have singles, but no pairs, and helfrichis shouldnt be put together if not an actual pair. any and all info is appreciated, thank you.

I have 4 in my tank ( 235g ) they were all purchased at different times from divers den and have no aggression issues with each other at all. They all take to the same spot under one of my rocks after lights out too. Just my experience though.

i would only need 2, and they would be going in a jbj45 gallon, i dont think i would have the same luck as you

I had a pair of reds maybe 20 years ago. Been trying for another pair ever since. No luck yet.

I don’t think these fish truly “pair”. They might coexist or spend time together when courting but they likely want to be solitary most other times.

eh ive had my purples for 3ish years no problems and are always together, id call that a pair. id assume other firefish do the same

I think they do pair. They are listed as monogamous by most sources and reportedly live in pairs as adults and groups as juveniles. My original pair spawned regularly but since then Ive not been able to keep 2 together for more than a year, usually only about 6 months.

That's what happens when they are not a pair.

Here you go @Zakery Murray my apologies for the blues and the fact that fish aren’t the most cooperative subjects when you’re trying to photograph them. Lol

So it looks like it’s only going to be at the 6 month mark on the 29th. I ordered the first one 7/29/19 ordered one more 8/28/19 and the other two were ordered 8/30/19

It's great they are doing well together, hopefully that continues!
