It may just be testing error, but I would not do anything special about it except perhaps monitor it. I've not seen any data suggesting that 0.5 ppm nitrite will be a problem.

It is also not common to have elevated nitrite in a reef tank. Have you measured the effluent from the biopellet reactor itself to see if that is the source of the nitrite?
