My wife and I are just starting our saltwater aquarium journey. We have had a couple freshwater tanks (90, 40) for several years and now we are ready to step up to the saltwater league. We are both scuba divers and UW photographers so we have a lot of experience with real world reefs.

As a 'starter' SW tank we decided to purchase a (gently) used Waterbox 40 AIO from an experienced saltwater reefer guy. We didn't want to commit to a large SW tank to start but we realize that if this journey goes smoothly we will probably add a much larger SW tank is a year or two.

Question about setting up a QT tank: What size would be recommended for our initial QT tank? We are thinking about getting a Waterbox 10 cube as a QT tank because 10-15 gal is the best 'physical' fit for locations we have available. Would a 10 gal be ok as a QT tank?

Here's the Waterbox 40.2 AIO (with custom stand) I found on FB Marketplace. I am going to start cleaning/testing the plumbing this weekend.

It all depends what fish you going to qt. I personally use 10 gallons and no complaints. One time i had 4 3 inch fish in.

A 20 gallon long over a 10g is my preference as it has a longer run for the fish rather than giving them only 20" of swim length. The extra water volume is less maintenance requirement and shallow to afford ease of any maintenance needed.
