Hello All..... I hate to say it but I am tearing down my 150 gallon deep dimension reef tank....I had it for about 2 years and had a75 gallon for the 3 years prior to it....All it takes is one trip out of town and the furnace to stop working and the temperature drop will kill all the corals you spent 5 years growing from frags to cantloupe and dinner plate size. It truly has been heartbreaking and totally demoralized and made me want to quit the hobby. Soon I will put up all my equipment for sale and hopefully help out another to afford the chance to keep a reef.....

It will be at least 10 years in my opinion before I can get up the gusto to setup another reef...Great thing is that I might setup a 55 gallon tank with live plants or something. Who knows....So be on the lookout for my goods to show up in the classifieds.

Sorry to hear about the losses. By one means or another, it's happened to all of us. Once the reef bug bites though, it's hard to shake. Instead of leaving the hobbie altogether, consider a nano tank. Look at it this way, even if an event causes a complete loss - just by virtue of size, you've limited the financial hit. Anyway - wish you luck!

sorry about your loss, I have had a crash or two over the years, and its always the tank you have the most work in, it sux, but restart and remeber the kiss principal, keep it simple stupid, I use cheap fish, etc etc, they live longer, and are easier to take care of, and if you do kill em, its not a big loss like speciman types.
