Just joined this forum. The site is excellent and professionally run, I like that. I was in the hobby for many years but then gave it up when my wife and I started spending the months of May and September down at Longboat Key Florida. That has run its' course now so I decided to get back somewhat into the hobby. Only a biocube 32 with some live rock, some fake coral and 3 fish 3 Mexican Turbo snails and a Conch. I am experienced although I lost some of the knowledge after 12 years out of the hobby but a lot is coming back as I join forums to re-educate myself.
How about we start with a simple quick query.....how do you all quiet the return pump in your aquariums especially the biocube? Love to read your ideas. Thanks.

Welcome to your new home for saltwater reef aquarium resources and fun! Welcome to the family! :D

In my biocube 29 I swapped out the pump for a dc controlled one. It is quieter and II like that I can adjust the flow rate.

This is a smaller pump than the one I am running. I have modified my cube some so the larger ones may not work for you.

I'm using this one:

Welcome back, glad you are here! Mine is coming up on 3 years this October. I think a couple times my return was noisy and it was due to the pump being against the wall, probably from me removing the sponge between chambers 2 and 3, to clean. Once I centered away from the wall it ran noise free.

I have little faith in mighty jet. Take a look ay sicce 1.0 and 1.5. Very quiet and reliable with excellent support

Welcome back man! I actually just sold my biocube but I got that sucker pretty quiet, not sure if any vendors here sell them but what I did, in the back I added the inTank 3 tier filtration and refugium add ins, and then they sell a flow ramp for $5 that makes the water go silent. I knew I shouldve kept them but I sold them with the tank. Also I know some people added flow directors onto the exit into the tank but I left that stock. Very quiet, if it got loud it meant filters were clogged or low water.
