Hi all, I am new to the reef hobby. I kept a lot of odd things in aquariums as a kid but never many fish. It has been about 10 years since I bought my 75g tank, built a stand for it, and then a lot of life happened and I have now finally gotten to the point where I can feasibly devote time and space to a reef setup. (And money, good lord...)
Anyway I decided if you're gonna go, go all out and to me that means reef aquarium. So here I am. I'm big on DIY so I have been cobbling my system together over a month or so. Apart from the 75g display, I have a 20g sump with an octopus 110 and +/-600gph return (partially closed ball valve in return line), and from the sump a 10g refugium is plumbed up with a 150gph pump feeding it, and overflows back to the sump. I started with 80# live and 40# dry rock as well as 80# live sand. The fuge only has sand and some of the leftover small peices of the dry rock, but I plan to grow algae and pods in it (hopefully?).

Anyway right now I'm trying to decide between a couple different ways I tried the aquascape. Anyone is free to weigh in with opinions or on anything you feel I might need to do differently.

Welcome to the hobby! Looks like you are off to a good start. :)

I like the “two island” look the best.
