Just introducing myself.
My name is Eduardo and I am the laboratory supervisor for the Department of Molecular Genetics at The Ohio State University. I know, that title is a mouthful. Well, I'm not a geneticist....I have a biology degree and I taught high school science for a few years before deciding it wasn't the right place for me. So now I've been at OSU for almost 20 years basically being a jack of all trades for the department. I set up labs, write labs, deal with equipment and repairs and whatever else they ask me to do. I have almost always had freshwater aquariums running in my labs and at home. I've never been tempted into the saltwater realm as the cost has been prohibitive for me.
I'm here now because one of our instructors wants to have a saltwater tank in the classroom to allow students to observe the life cycle of Ulva (Sea Lettuce) as they also observe the life cycles of other plant groups. I'm gung-ho for it because the cost doesn't come out of my paycheck! So I've been reading and reading and I've posted the question in the newbie area and I'm looking forward to the responses.
If I can ever be of assistance to anyone, feel free to hit me up.
Thank you
Eduardo
