Just wanted to introduce myself, my first post here and a new SW/reef person. I started my first saltwater tank, a 75 gallon that has been up for about 3 months. Tankmates are currently two oscellaris clowns and a juvi blue tang that is a real coward (he hides in the rock at the first glimpse of a person standing in front of the tank). I have about 50 lbs of dry rock, and it appears that some of the rock towards the top just might be turning live (I can see some magenta colored algae on them). Eventually I'd like to add a few more peaceful community fish and some coral. I have my heart set on zoanthids, and just added a 260 watt white & actinic blue light fixture. I will have many questions along the way and hope you guys can help me out every now and then with some education lol.

We're here for you! Welcome to R2R!

Well it looks like I may have made a mistake in the rock becoming live, it might be red slime or cyano lol. I'll post a picture and let you see what it is.

Welcome! Is the red stuff slimy or hard? If it's hard, that's coralline algae and is good. A pic would definitely help.
