Hello I'm new to reef keeping and I'm really exited to get into this beautiful hobby, I've had freshwater for 4 years but i have never felt satisfied with just freshwater but i was also afraid of jumping into deep water with marine, it was always my goal to have a reef so i have just started my reef tank around a month ago and it seems to be doing well its boring as the tank is empty and no light is on, well i turn it on every once and a while so that i can have a look at it ;) i'm doing a fishes cycle with Dr Tims ammonium chloride and Dr Tims one and only live nitrifying bacteria, now all I'm doing is slowly raising my salinity up to 34 ppt currently at 28 ppt been raising it for about a week now slowly getting there. I'm also waiting for the nitrite to go down to 0 as I'm currently at 4 meq/L . Also need to start dropping my temperature down to 25 degrees C im at 28 currently as people have advised that i raise the temperature of my tank during cycling so i have listened and raised the temperature not sure if it made a difference but I'm open to any advice. i have a 90L cube that I'm really looking forward to stocking the tank with some fish and lots of corals further down the road as the tank matures. dealing with slight cloudy water but I'm not concerned as I'm sure its just a minor bacterial bloom and it happens on a new tank. Done tones of research on setting up a new tank and researched all the corals that I'm interested in keeping in my tank not rushing as I'm planning to add my first coral around the three month mark, all i need to understand is the chemistry of a reef tank but ill get there slowly but surely.
thanks for reading :)
also not sure why the image is on its side as its normal in the computer and the phone, photo was taken before the bacterial bloom
