Hello! My name is Josh, and I am from Fargo, ND.
I have always been very very into the Oceanic Biome, and when I was 17, I moved to Oregon. I lived about 70mi from the southern coast of Oregon, And was there as often as I could be, wading in the tide pools or walking on the beach. I never felt so at home.
Now, I have had fish of one type or another (or many) my whole life for the most part. But always freshwater. Once, My dad gave me his Brackish tank, and that was the closest I ever got to saltwater, and that venture didn't last long as my little sister thought the canister filter looked dirty so being the helper she was, she decided one day to clean it, with bleach. And that was the end of that. I never did get back into any kind of saltwater as I had always heard how difficult and time consuming and expensive it was.
17 years later (November 2013) I was browsing Craigslist and I came across a 55 gallon saltwater complete setup. I watched it for a week or so and no one was biting. And neither was I. Too much work, Too much money to upkeep etc etc. Then the price dropped. $100 for everything. That got my interest so I called the guy on a Friday, and he said it was Pending Pickup on Sunday. About 4 hours later, I called the guy and told him I could pick it up right away, or he could MAYBE see the other guy get it two days later. He called me back and said it was mine so I went and picked it up. My first Saltwater tank. It came with Real Reef rock, not the fake, man-made stuff and it was COVERED in purple coralline. The sand was clean, there was a active CUC, there was a single True Percula Clown, lights, modern stand, everything but a sump and a skimmer.
So as I started spending time with it and thinking about what I would put in it, I decided I needed a sump, but the stand was not built with that in mind. I had another 55 gallon tank in the garage, so a stand fo a 55 DT with a 55 sump/fuge under it started to take shape in my head. Then as I started looking into livestock, A lot of what I liked, my 55DT would be too small for, so a New stand started taking shape in my mind. 125 over a 55 gal sump/fuge. Then, I saw a 125 gallon sump and I loved it.
You guessed it, a new stand started to take shape. 125 over a 125. After a TON of searching, I found a picture of a stand that gave me an IDEA of what direction I needed to take. Someone from my local reef club said he could probably reverse engineer it, And two months later, that is what I am running.
I don't have a build thread on R2R yet, But here is a Picture.

That was taken before the DT was aquascaped. Now here is one with the DT done and the lights installed. Now the water is cloudy yet in this one. I had just finished setting it up the way I liked it.

I will get to work on putting up a build thread soon, but in the mean time, you can see it here : My Dual 125G Tank Build | Red River Valley Reefers
I look forward to being an active part of this forum, and I hope you enjoy having me.
Thanks!!
