Hello Everyone,
My name is Christy. I want to thank everyone for this forum. This site has provided much help for me throughout the years.
After being out of the hobby for many, many years, about 4-5 years ago I got sucked back in. It all started with kids at the beach and some hermit crabs, which of course turned into us buying a nano cube tank-yep...I was pulled right back in. *cue Godfather line*
Now, we have finally upgraded to an 80 gallon reef tank with a 30 gallon sump complete w/ refugium. (With future plans for a much larger tank) Currently, we have over 120+pounds of live rock, 2 Percula clown fish, 2 oscellaris clowns, a lawnmower blenny, a BTA, 2 damsels, Zoa, and a toadstool. (Our new system was purchased used complete with live rock and a couple of fish. It is about 4 years old, but we have only owned it a month or so.)
I can't wait to learn more and continue building our beautiful reef tank.

I am no starfish expert, but I have seen them lose, regrow and have unusual configurations. I am sure others will chime in as well.

HI! So far, the clownfish haven't even noticed the BTA- or anything else in the tank either than food. lol The clowns all get along fine. One we have had for a few years and we worried about adding more when his mate died, but they all hang out together and seem fine.

Sweet. Sometimes they can take a while to "find" the anemone but once they do, that will be their area. What is your vision for your tank? softies? LPS dominated? SPS dominated? Mixed? I always found new tanks an exciting time because you can do so much with them.

Thank you...I can't take any credit. A super kind man that works at a local LFS store help me make some repairs and set the live rock up for me as some large pieces were rather heavy. lol I plan to add some more LR soon. I moved some to the sump and kept a couple of smaller pieced in our QT tank.

Right now, I am trying not to overwhelm the system with a lot at once...BUT I would love to have a mixed reef tank. I have been doing a lot of research on compatibility and such. We only had LR and softies in our nano with clown fish and a mandarin.

I would not add any rock to that, IMHO. It is beautiful, natural looking and very unique. More than enough rock for your system.

My original question, which I moved to the support forum, was regarding the starfish. He was labeled a Linckia and he has seven arms. Just wondering if this is normal or if he is possibly another species? Thanks for the warm welcome and all the feedback! Much appreciated!

Only critique I would have is the three points of equal height. That seems slightly unnatural. For my tastes, and to address your point about it being centralized, I may pull it apart into two structures. It seems there is a natural separation to the design, but I am viewing it in two dimensions of course. If you could pull it apart a little and change the angle of the left branches a tiny bit I dare say it would be perfect to my narrow eye.

I tend to like two structures, but yours is a great example right now of a single structure that works on many levels.

For fun, this is my aquascape in my 45 AIO
