Hi y'all!
I joined back in September, but haven't contributed much.
I've been low-key planning a reef tank for several years now, reading a lot, and waiting for the Time + Budget + X equation to get to a point where it was time to pull the trigger...
Long story medium: I'm a software test engineer in Seattle. I got engaged a few months ago, and she lives in southern Oregon. Our plans have been basically for me to live in Seattle (it's where the jobs are), her to live in Ashland (it's where her job is, there are good schools for her kids, and it's no where near as expensive to live as Seattle), and me to work on getting a job with enough flexibility that I could work from Ashland 1/4-1/2 the time, and still be able to afford keeping my place in Seattle (we both love Seattle, and would like to get a place there after her kids are all done with school).
I was working a contract with UW Medicine in January, and by early March, we'd been told to work remotely. I figured I could do that just as well in Ashland as I could Seattle, so came down here "until it sorts out". It's went swimmingly, and she gave me the green light to start putting together my tank
So, I expect there will be a small glut of posts from me in the coming weeks, starting with one right after this about tank selection.
